Ghosts in the Ethereal Garden ~
This Release, was originally supposed to be a 2 disc official (2nd) Fossil Dungeon Release.
Which I took forever with the mix. And it just didn't seem to get it's day. The first of the 2
discs... was the more Ethereal / Avant Garde mix... & the 2nd disc was to be the all dark
ambient instrumental disc. The Light to balance the Darkness was my thought. But after the
last 4-5 years of not releasing it... I decided to nix the original idea... And change it up &
split the idea back into 2 seperate flows. With the other (dark side) disc being 'VialX'.Ghosts
still has an Ethereal, slight Avant Garde experimental bent to it. With most of the original
tracks I had wanted for disc 1.

Ghosts in the Ethereal Garden ~ Track Commentary:
'Succubus Kiss' ~ An opening to a live outdoor performance at the BVB in Long Beach Ca.
A brief wailing of the banshee & night Rider.
This is a lovely & ghostly lyrical vocal track with pure voice no instruments. Just layers of
vocals with effects. The Lyrics are from a poem written by an Artist named Lauren Raine.
When I had come across her interesting site of poems & visuals of ritual like performances. I
was moved by her Ghostmask poem & wrote to ask if I could use it in a song. There were 3
recordings with the poem, this was my favorite version of the 3 & felt it fit into the ethereal
garden aspect.
-'Remembering Ancestors' ~
This is a shortened version of this track. A brief track in memory of those ancient ones that
have gone before us. It is good to recognize them from time to time.... as they need a voice
to speak through as well.
This is a light trip into a memory I had of a hand that appeared beckoning out of a wave of
smoke above a friends alter. Ethereal Vocals chant & flow in & out of each other. Lovely... (a
longer version of this can be found on another mix, the extended version ends with more
cutting sounds... this shortened version was more of a focus on the voices.)
Sort of has this epic feeling to me. Almost war like in its synth wailing. Voices wail first...
then the battle score of synth begins... & ends in a wall of voice to drown you.
Though completely riddled with some of my worst edits... this piece unfortunately was
recorded with a &(*@&#^%^&$ up tacky recorder. It was on it's last legs... but I couldn't say
no to it. I loved it when I created it. And of course could not ever recreate it. It has sketchy &
sparse beginnings which I like... then it blasts into a lovely vocal & guitar flow... I was
listening to a lot of Swans when I created this. (I think it was recorded around 2003)
Sort of swoops in ... like a gentle wash of sound... that floods over you with vocal
angelickness. This is a wall of tone... sleepy time... & dreams of viewing the night sky
forever & ever...
-'Shadows in the Trees' ~
One heck of a creepy track... and Another all time favorite on my list of sounds.
There is a story attached to the listening of this track... other than my nightly sleepy time
ritual listen. One summer a few years back, I decided to work with a friend at an organic fruit
stand selling (my favorite) strawberries from a local farm. All day we roasted in the heat...
selling our lovely berries (& they were awesome tasty too). One night after a day of vending,
we drove back to the farm to drop off some inventory & switch out the work van for my
friends car. It was dusk & bits of the night were creeping in. My friend was inside dealing
with the owner, while I sat alone outside in the car listening to this newly recorded track
'Shadows in the Trees'. I sat half in & half out of the car with the door open & my leg
hanging out. I had a cd player with a small battery operated stereo speaker... the heat was
just barely cooling down from the day. Christopher (my friend) had left his headlights on for
a minute while he ran in. I sat there zoning out & appreciating the night sky with all the stars
visible in farm country. In front of me were tall brush & fields of berries as well as other
things growing. All of a sudden I hear some strange wail of an animal far far off in the
distance, as well as the brush Really far away seemed to shift abrubtly as if something were
passing through it... I had no idea what kind of animal it was... at it didn't sound like any kind
of farm animal I was familiar with... I was slightly startled & noticed Christopher walking
back to the car. As he climbs into the car & I am still sitting with the door open. I tell him of
the wail & the movement of brush far off in the distance. Just as I spill the last sentence, the
brush immediately in front of the car abruptly shifts hard... as if something wanted to burst
out at us. Now Christopher & I were both startled ... I quickly slip my leg into the car. He
yells close the door, let's get out of here... & That's what you get for playing your creepy ass
music out here for all the creatures to hear. As we sped out of the driveway... more wails of
animals were heard in the distance... the hair on the back of our arms stood straight up.
Completely CREEPY!!!! though I suppose you had to be there.
Later we discovered there was a zoo not too close by... which might explain the odd animal
wails in farmland... though doesn't explain why the brush moved so furiously & abrubtly &
how it jumped from many many yards away so quickly... like in a matter of seconds. This is a
completely nostalgic track for me... that totally reminds me of home & growning up in a small
town with nothing much to do... other than go driving at night, looking for trouble & haunted
places to creep into & to scare ourselves half to death. Which was a favorite pasttime. Darn
my creepy music!!!
-'Scantilly Clad Memories' ~
Cymbal, flits, synth whips, tonal washes.. vocal wails... flowing into a dream near you. Love
this piece too... & still more familiarity encases within.
One of 3 versions of this track. This one is my fave for it's quirky sounds & beat. Guitar
oddities & lyrical voices. A definate dream memory.
-'Multi Faceted Channeling' ~
This is a lovely ethereal experimental vocal breath piece. Purely voices as instruments &
breath as the beat flow.
-'Something to color my World' ~
another quirky fave... listening to a lot of Jarboe & other quirky experimental artists.
This is what it is like to slip in & out of madness....
For years my Grandmother suffered from Dementia. I've known many back home & in the
midwest that has suffered & is still suffering from being Schizophrenic, spit personality or bi-
polar. When I think of what it would be like to slip into an unsettling mind illness... this track
came out of the mindless mire of subconscious oddity, carnivalesque conceptual sound
ideas. slipping further & further into my other selves....
Brings all of the madness of the last coupla flows down to a casual memory, fleeting glimpse
of sorrow with a tinge of melancholy & ethereal ambience. Guitar by the hus. It was one of
the first times I ever felt comfortable singing in front of him, with very little going on in the
track. I felt completely vulnerable. And when you perform improvised & words in the
moment, you begin to sometimes dissect the situation or flow a little too much. It is hard to
take a step back out of your life together & just allow the whim & flow to actually take you
over & place you outside of yourself. This song did that for me, finally after so long.
The lyrics... contemplative... & lost memory or death & a lost love. Long ago, I had a friend
who's girlfriend met a sad demise as her car crashed on a sharp curve in the road & she
passed away.My thoughts were on the loss felt from that memory... & for many thoughts of
past regrets... (like not opening up artistically for so long)... or feeling stagnant in your
desires or art endeavors... blocks that stand in your way. Dre was listening to a lot of Lycia
during the time of this recording... One of my favorite mellow collabs with the hus.
On the side... On the side of the road... Hidden here... still here... by the side of the road...
On the side... hidden... by the side of the road... hidden from view...
where I ... lost my love... where I ... lost my world... lost my world...
floating... on a Current... floating on... a current.Where... where....I'm floating... here.....
'Shadows Leap' ~ a small fragment of vocals looping into lovely melange ditty...
